Born in Vereeniging in 1958, Viv Brown was a natural leader, becoming head boy of CBC College at just 16. His passion for running began at Eskom, leading to his first Two Oceans Ultra Marathon in 1983.

After a hiatus for family and work, Viv returned to running with dedication. He completed 12 of his 14 Comrades Marathons, earning his permanent Green Number in 2012. In his signature style, he secured the same number, 4377, for his Two Oceans Blue Number the following year.

Viv’s love for the sport led him to found Roadmasters Athletic Club, and he and his wife Jenni turned running into global adventures, participating in marathons in New York, London, Paris, and Sydney.

A familiar and cheerful sight on the streets of Chartwell, Viv is deeply missed. His family is honoured to have this fun run dedicated to his memory and thank everyone for this loving tribute.
